Sierra, Gregorio Martínez (1881–1947)

Spanish dramatist and novelist. His plays include the comedy Canción de cuna/The Cradle Song 1911 and character studies reflecting the worth of homely virtues such as El reino de Dios/The Kingdom of God 1915.

He was manager of the Teatro Eslava in Madrid 1917–25, when he introduced contemporary foreign plays to the Spanish public as well as staging Federico García Lorca's first play, El maleficio de la mariposa/The Butterfly's Evil Spell 1920.
