Sierra Club

US environmental organization, founded in 1892. Its mission is to protect the environment through congressional lobbying, direct action, and education. Campaigns have been run on US issues such as urban development, the commercial logging of forests, and water contamination, and global concerns such as global warming, population growth, and responsible trade.

The Sierra Club also organizes outings to wild areas in order to promote environmental awareness, produces books on environmental issues, and runs local action groups throughout the USA.
