Siloti, Alexander (Ilyich) (1863–1945)

Russian pianist and conductor. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rubinstein, and others, and later with Franz Liszt. He first appeared at Moscow in 1880 and later travelled widely. He left Russia in 1919 and lived in the USA at the end of his life. From 1925 to 1942 he taught at the Juilliard School in New York.
