Simeon, Charles (1759-1836)

English cleric. After being elected a fellow of King's College, Cambridge University, he was ordained, and in 1783 became perpetual curate of Holy Trinity, Cambridge. He was one of the leaders of the evangelical party in the Church of England, and exercised great influence at his university.

Simeon was born in Reading, England. He was educated at Eton School and King's College, Cambridge. He was one of the founders of the Church Missionary Society, and also established the Simeon Trust to provide livings for evangelical clergy.
