jojoba

Desert shrub Simmondsia chinensis of southwest North America and Mexico, that grows to a height of around 6 m/20 ft. Its seeds are used as a source of jojoba oil, used as a substitute for sperm whale oil, and as a fragrance. It is increasingly grown as a commercial crop.
