Simmons, Al(oysius Harry) (1902–1956)

US baseball player. During his 20-year career as an outfielder, Simmons posted a lifetime batting average of .334 and hit 307 home runs. He spent most of his career with the Philadelphia Athletics, retiring in 1944. He was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1953.
