Sinding, Christian August (1856-1941)| Norwegian composer. His works include songs and four symphonies, but he is chiefly remembered for the popular piano piece Frühlingsrauschen/Rustle of Spring (1896). His brothers Otto (1842-1909) and Stephan (1846-1922) were a painter and sculptor respectively. |
| He studied at Oslo and later, with the Norwegian government's support, went to Germany, continuing his studies at Liepzig, Berlin, and Munich, where he spent many years of his life. For a time he was professor of composition at Rochester, New York. |
