Sinfonia Antartica

Symphony by Ralph Vaughan Williams (his seventh) for soprano, women's chorus and orchestra. Composed 1949–52, it was based on his music for the film Scott of the Antarctic (1947–48). It was first performed in Manchester, England, on 14 January 1953, conducted by Barbirolli.
