Singer, S(eymour) J(onathan) (1924- )

US cell biologist. He made major contributions to the physical chemistry of proteins (including antibodies), membrane biology, and chemical cytology.

He was born in New York City. He was a research fellow at the California Institute of Technology 1947-48, worked for the US Public Health Service 1948-51, moved to Yale 1951-61, then joined the University of California in 1961.
