Sinigaglia, Leone (1868–1944)

Italian composer. He studied at the Turin Conservatory and with Eusebius Mandyczewski in Vienna. He returned to Turin and settled down to composition and folk-song collecting.

Works

Orchestral

suite Piemonte, overture to Goldoni's Le baruffe chiozzote, Danze piemontesi for orchestra (1903); concerto, Rapsodia piemontese, and romance for violin and orchestra.

Chamber

string quartet in D major, concert study and variations on a theme by Brahms for string quartet; sonatas for cello and violin, folk songs.
