Siquijor

Island province of the Philippines, situated 20 km/12 mi east of southern Negros Island; area 337 sq km/130 sq mi; population (1995) 74,000. The capital is Siquijor. The centre of the province is hilly, with the north and south coasts having narrow flood plains. The island is surrounded by coral reefs. Production of corn and coconuts and fishing are the main industries. There are deposits of copper and silver.
