Sitsky, Larry (1934– )

Australian composer of Russian descent. He studied at the New South Wales Conservatorium 1951–55, and with Egon Petri, former pupil of Busoni, in San Francisco. He was active as a pianist in the music of Busoni and other major moderns, head of keyboard studies at the Canberra School of Music 1966–78, and of composition from 1981.

Works

Opera

Fall of the House of Usher (1965); Lenz (1972), Golem (composed 1980, premiered 1993).

Orchestral

three violin concertos (1971–87), concertos for clarinet (1981), trombone (1982), guitar (1984), and piano (1991).

Chamber

three string quartets (no. 3 1993) and piano pieces with accompanying electronic effects.
