Sitt, Hans (1850–1922)

Czech-German violinist, teacher, and editor. He studied at the Prague Conservatory. He became leader of the orchestra at Breslau (1867), and conducted at Breslau and Prague (1870–73), Chemnitz (1873–80), and Nice. He returned to Leipzig, where he joined Brodsky's quartet as a violist. He was a professor of violin at the Leipzig Conservatory (1883–1921), and edited much violin music.
