Sjögren, (Johan Gustaf) Emil (1853-1918)

Swedish composer. In 1891 he became organist at St John's Church, Stockholm, but devoted most of his time to teaching and composition.

He studied at the Stockholm Conservatory and later in Berlin; he also came under the influence of the Danish composer Peter Lange-Müller (1850-1926) during six months' stay at Meran.

Works Orchestral and chamber five violin and piano sonatas; organ works; two piano sonatas, Erotikon, Novellettes, and numerous other works for piano; songs.
