Shkodër

Town on the River Bojana, northwest Albania, southeast of Lake Scutari, 19 km/12 mi from the Adriatic Sea; population (1991) 83,700. Products include woollens and cement. During World War I it was occupied by Austria 1916–18, and during World War II by Italy.

Albanian for Scutari, a lake on the borders of Albania and Montenegro.
