Sloan, Samuel (1815-1884)

US architect. ‘The Architect of Philadelphia’, he designed public buildings, schools, and churches, and, working with Thomas Kirkbride, became an authority on designing lunatic asylums.

He was born in Beaver Dam, Pennsylvania. He wrote seven influential plan books 1852-73.
