Smillie, Wilson George (1886-1971)

US epidemiologist. He established the first school for public health in South America 1917-27. After ten years at the Harvard School of Public Health 1927-37, he joined Cornell University Medical College 1937-55, and on retiring, published the influential Public Health - Its Promise for the Future (1955).

He was born in Eaton, Colorado.
