Smith, David Stanley

Smith, David Stanley (1877–1949)

US composer, conductor and teacher. He studied with H Parker at Yale University, and later in London, Munich, and Paris. In 1903 he became an instructor, and later professor, of music at Yale.

Works

The Fallen Star for chorus and orchestra (1904), Rhapsody of St Bernard for solo voices, chorus and orchestra (1915), The Vision of Isaiah for chorus (1926); anthems; part-songs; four symphonies (1905–37); ten string quartets; songs.
