Smith, Winthrop (Hiram, Jr) (1949- )

US financial services executive. In 1974 he joined Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner, and Smith (now Merrill, Lynch) as an investment banker, rising through a series of management positions to become the firm's national sales director in 1990.

He was born in New York City. He graduated from Amherst in 1971 and gained a graduate business degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1974
