Smiths Falls

Town in southeastern Ontario, Canada, on the Rideau River, 64 km/40 mi southwest of Ottawa; population (1991) 9,400. Midway on the Rideau Canal, it is a recreational and railway centre. Local industries produce chocolate, tools, and electrical items.
