Snohomish County

County in northwest Washington; area 5,434 sq km/2,098 sq mi; population (1990) 465,600. Its capital is Everett. Parts of the Mount Baker–Snoqualmie National Forest and the Cascade Range are in the east; many northern Seattle suburbs as well as Lynnwood, Edmonds, and other cities are in the southwest, on Puget Sound. Lumbering, dairying, fruit and poultry raising, and mining are important, and the aircraft industry is a leading employer.
