| Opera by Rimsky-Korsakov (libretto by composer, based on a play by Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky), produced at St Petersburg on 10 February 1882. The story concerns the Snow Maiden, who lives among humans but cannot love. She falls for Mizgir and, granted the ability to love by Spring, melts in the sunlight. |
