City in southeastern Tennessee, 29 km/18 mi northeast of Chattanooga, on the west side of Chickamauga Lake, in the Tennessee Valley; population (1990) 8,200. Local products have included bricks, tiles, and textiles. The city incorporates the former villages of Soddy and Daisy.
