Sognefjorden

Longest and deepest fjord in Norway, stretching 205 km/127 mi from inland Skjolden to its mouth on the west coast at Solund; it is 1,245 m/4,080 ft deep.

There are no offshoots for the first 80 km/50 mi from the sea, but after that the fjords of Fjaerland, Sogndal, Ardal, Laerdal, and Aurland branch off in various directions. The fjord is popular with tourists because of its mountain scenery. The main settlements around the fjord are Balestrand, Vangsnes, Vik, Kaupanger, Laerdal, and Sogndal.
