Sohal, Naresh (1939– )

Indian composer. He first came to attention with his Asht Prahar (1965), performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1970. The Wanderer for baritone, chorus, and orchestra was performed at the 1982 London Promenade Concerts, and From Gitanjali by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta in 1985.

He studied with Jeremy Dale Roberts and Alexander Goehr in England.

Orchestral

Indra-Dhanush for orchestra (1973), Undulation for cello (1984), Tandova Nritya for orchestra (1984).

Other

Inscape for chorus, flute, and percussion (1979), two brass quintets (1983, 1984).
