Solinus, Gaius Julius

    0.11 sec.

Solinus, Gaius Julius (lived 4th century AD)

Roman compiler. He was author of a geographical work entitled Collectanea Rerum Memorabilium, commonly known by its second title, Polyhistor. Solinus was so obviously indebted to Pliny the Elder 's Natural History for his information, a debt which he nowhere acknowledges, that he is often referred to as ‘Pliny's ape’.
