Somerset County| County in north-central New Jersey, bounded to the northeast by the Passaic River; area 790 sq km/305 sq mi; population (1990) 240,300. Its capital is Somerville. The county has been largely agricultural in character, producing vegetables, grain, and poultry, but is now experiencing rapid suburbanization. |
