Somfai, László (1934– )

Hungarian musicologist. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy, Budapest, and was appointed professor of musicology there in 1980. He published several works on Haydn: as opera director (1960), his life on contemporary pictures (1966), and on the piano sonatas (1979). He also conducted research on the lives and works of Liszt, Stravinsky, Webern, and Bartók.
