Opera by Handel (libretto based on Matteo Noris's Alfonso primo), produced at the King's Theatre, Haymarket, London, on 15 February 1732. In the story, Haliate besieges the city controlled by his rebellious son Argone. Melo is announced as Haliate's successor instead of Argone. Sosarme reconciles the rival claimants to throne and weds Elmira.
