Sotin, Hans (1939– )

German bass. He made his Hamburg debut in 1964, where he sang in the first performances of Blacher's Incidents at a Forced Landing (1966), and Penderecki's The Devils of Loudun (1969). He sang Sarastro on his debuts at Glyndebourne (1970) at and the Metropolitan Opera House, New York (1972). Since 1972 he appeared at Bayreuth, as the Landgrave, Marke, Pogner, and Gurnemanz. He sang Hunding at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London (1974), where he returned in 1977, in a new production of Der Freischütz/The Freeshooter. He sang Gurnemanz and Daland at Bayreuth, in 1992.
