South Bay

Three groups of waterfront communities, in the Californian cities of Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. In Los Angeles, South Bay encompasses a wide area on Santa Monica and San Pedro bays that is regarded as the centre of the area's sun-and-surf popular culture. There is also much industrial and commercial development here. South Bay in San Diego includes the districts of National City, Chula Vista, Palm City, San Ysidro, Imperial Beach, and Coronado. In San Francisco, South Bay describes the communities at the southern end of the Bay; dominated by San Jose, the area is more commonly referred to as Silicon Valley.
