South Molton

Market town in Devon, southwest England, 16 km/10 mi southeast of Barnstaple; population (2001) 4,100. South Molton is the centre of an agricultural district; local industries include shirtmaking, building, tanning, dyeing and cleaning, and woodworking.

The church of St Mary Magdalene is largely Perpendicular Gothic. An annual sheep fair is held on the first Wednesday of August.
