South River

In the period of Dutch settlement in North America (1631–1660s), the Delaware River, as distinguished from the Hudson, or North, River.

South River

Town in eastern New Jersey, on the South River, a tributary of the Raritan River, 8 km/5 mi southeast of New Brunswick; population (1990) 13,700. Its chief industry is clothing manufacture; lying in an area rich in clay and sand, South River also produces bricks, tiles, and other building materials.
