South Ronaldsay

Southernmost of the Orkney Islands, Scotland, situated 9 km/6 mi northeast of Duncansby Head on the Scottish mainland; population (2001) 850. Its surface is flat and well cultivated, covering an area of 46 sq km/18 sq mi. St Margaret's Hope, the main harbour and settlement, lies in the north of the island.

South Ronaldsay is connected to Burray and Mainland, the largest of the Orkney Islands, by the Orkney Causeway (or Churchill Barrier), constructed during World War II to close off the eastern arm of Scapa Flow.
