Southampton Water

Inlet of the English Channel, stretching from the Solent and Spithead into Hampshire, southern England. It is about 18 km/11 mi long and its greatest breadth is 3.2 km/2 mi.

Southampton Water forms a natural harbour, with the Isle of Wight a natural breakwater, giving the area a double high tide. The rivers Itchen and Test flow into Southampton Water.
