Southington

Town in central Connecticut, on the Quinnipiac River, 13 km/8 mi east of Waterbury; population (1990) 38,500. Since the early 19th century, its economy has been both agricultural and industrial; situated in a fruit-growing region, it also produces hardware, aeroplane and radio parts, tools, pipe fittings, and paper boxes.
