Spector, Phil (1940– )

US record producer. He is known for the ‘wall of sound’, created using a large orchestra, which distinguished his work in the early 1960s with vocal groups such as the Crystals and the Ronettes. He withdrew into semi-retirement 1966 but his influence can still be heard.
