Spelling, Aaron (1923-2006)

US television producer. He was one of the most prolific and commercially successful producers in television history. His television series, particularly popular during the 1970s and 80s, included the adventure series Charlie's Angels (1976) and Starsky and Hutch (1977); the romantic comedy The Love Boat (1977); and the primetime soap opera Dynasty (1981). During the 1980s his company also produced movies of the week for all three major US networks.

He was born in Dallas, Texas. In the 1950s he was a television actor. He began producing Zane Grey Theater in 1960, then joined Danny Thomas to produce The Mod Squad (1968-73). His daughter Tori Spelling (1973- ) appeared in his high-school drama series Beverly Hills 90210 (1990).
