Spielwerk und die Prinzessin, Das

Opera by Schreker (libretto by composer). Composed 1909–12, it was first produced at Frankfurt and Vienna on 15 March 1913. In the story, the sound from Meister Florian's musical box intoxicates the Princess, but she is redeemed by a flute-playing wayfarer.

The opera was later revised in one act as a mystery play, Das Spielwerk, produced in Munich on 30 October 1920, conducted by Walter.
