Spillville

City in northeastern Iowa, on the Turkey River, 16 km/10 mi southwest of Decorah; population (1996 est) 400. A Czech settlement, it was home to the composer Antonín Dvořák during the summer of 1893, when he completed his New World Symphony.

Spillville is home to the Bily Clock Museum and Antonín Dvořák Exhibit. This is the house where Dvořák stayed in 1893 and holds also 40 intricately carved wooden clocks built by the local Bily brothers, Frank and Joseph. Fort Atkinson state preserve is nearby. The northeast Iowa area vocational-technical school is here.
