Spinelli, Nicola (1865-1909)

Italian pianist, conductor, and composer. Studied at Florence, Rome, and Naples, as a pupil of Mancinelli and Sgambati. His second opera, Labilia, came second to Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana in the competition for the Sonzogno Prize in 1889. He suffered from a mental complaint during his last years.
