Spithead Mutiny

During the French Revolutionary Wars, mutiny of the Channel and North Sea fleets April 1797 over the appalling conditions on ships. The mutineers won improved conditions and better pay and a royal pardon was granted. The success of this mutiny encouraged the outbreak of the more serious Nore mutiny the following month.
