Sporulation on Czapek agar enabled preparation of a sporangiospore suspension used for antifungal susceptibility testing.
Spherules filled with round fungal endospores and scattered individual sporangiospores of coccidioides were identified adjacent to areas of placental infarction (Figures 2 and 3).
Use of enzymes to degrade the ungerminated sporangiospore cell walls, or of the cell walls of germ tubes from germinating spores, appeared to be one of the methods of choice.
