Spring, Sherwood Clark (1944– )

US astronaut. He was responsible for deploying three communications satellites from the space shuttle Atlantis, launched in November 1985. He was selected as an astronaut in 1980 and retired from NASA in 1988. He then directed the Army Space Program Office in Washington, DC. Spring retired from the US Army in 1994 and became an aerospace consultant with The Application Science Corporation (TASC) in Reston, Virginia.
