Spring Lake

Town in west-central Michigan, on Spring Lake and the Grand River, just east of Lake Michigan and opposite Grand Haven; population (1990) 2,500. It is a resort, has commercial fishing, is a shipping point for farm and orchard products, and has some light industry.

The US pioneer cartoonist and animated film-maker Winsor McCay (1867-1934) was born here.
