Spring Valley

Community in southwestern California, 13 km/8 mi east of central San Diego; population (1990) 55,300. In a citrus-producing area, it is a largely residential suburb developed since the 1960s.

Spring Valley

Affluent residential section of northwest Washington DC, in the extreme west corner of the District, along the Potomac River and the Maryland border. It is one of Washington's most conservative white neighbourhoods.

American University (1893) is in the east.

The area just to the south, along the river and MacArthur Boulevard, known as the Palisades, has a higher proportion of apartment houses and commercial establishments. To the east, between the river and Georgetown, is Foxhall, a residential neighbourhood along Foxhall Road, where some of the District's largest estates are situated.

Community in southern Nevada, one of the booming residential suburbs of Las Vegas; population (1990) 51,700.

Spring Valley

Community in Ramapo township, southeastern New York State, 11 km/7 mi west of Nyack and 56 km/35 mi northwest of New York City; population (1990) 21,800. It is one of Rockland County's larger suburban residential communities.
