Spring Valley (Washington DC)

    0.01 sec.

Spring Valley

Affluent residential section of northwest Washington DC, in the extreme west corner of the District, along the Potomac River and the Maryland border. It is one of Washington's most conservative white neighbourhoods.

American University (1893) is in the east.

The area just to the south, along the river and MacArthur Boulevard, known as the Palisades, has a higher proportion of apartment houses and commercial establishments. To the east, between the river and Georgetown, is Foxhall, a residential neighbourhood along Foxhall Road, where some of the District's largest estates are situated.
