springer spaniel

Breed of medium-sized gundog bred in England and Wales for ‘springing’ (flushing out) game. The Welsh springer is red and white and used mainly for upland game; the English is brown and white, or black and white, or a variety of solid colours, and will spring game and retrieve from water. Both types weigh up to about 20 kg/45 lb and stand about 50 cm/20 in tall.
