Squier, Ephraim George (1821–1888)| US diplomat and archaeologist. His report on Ohio Indian mounds remained the standard work on Mound Builders for 50 years and helped establish the field of American archaeology. His diplomatic postings to Central and South America 1849–65 yielded further ethnological and archaeological studies. |
