Stölzel, Gottfried Heinrich (1690–1749)

German composer. He studied at Leipzig University, taught in Breslau 1710–12, and visited Italy 1713–14, meeting Gasparini, Vivaldi, and others. He lived in Prague, Bayreuth, and Gera, and from 1719 was kapellmeister to the court at Gotha.

22 operas, including Narcissus (1711), Orion (1712), Venus und Adonis (1714).
